Privacy Policy Terms of Use Refund Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Auxility, Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the CatchMile mobile application (the "App") and the catchmile.com website (the "Site"). CatchMile is a mileage tracker: to do its job it has to know where and when you drive, so this policy explains exactly what the App records, where it is kept, and what leaves your phone.

1. Information the App collects

Location and motion — to record your drives

  • Location. With your permission ("Always" on iOS, background location on Android), the App uses your phone's location to detect when a drive starts and ends and to measure its distance. The GPS is switched on only once you are moving.
  • Motion and activity. With your permission, the App uses your phone's motion and activity signals to tell driving from walking, so a drive starts on its own and walking is not recorded as a drive.
  • Drive records. For each drive the App stores its date, start and end time, start and end location and address, distance, and the classification you give it (Work, Personal or Commute), plus any notes, merges, splits or manual drives you add.

Drive records are written to your phone first, so drives are recorded even without an account or a connection. The raw stream of GPS readings a drive is built from stays on your phone. On Android, the App's drive database is excluded from Google's cloud backup.

Addresses

To show a street address for the start and end of a drive, the App sends that point's coordinates to our geocoding service, which uses Geoapify. Addresses already looked up are kept in a shared cache that stores the coordinate and its address only — with no account, user or drive attached to it.

Account information — if you create an account

  • Email address and sign-in data, so you can sign in and recover access. Sign-in emails, and any report you choose to send by email, are delivered through Postmark.
  • Your drive summaries and settings, synced to your account so they survive a lost or replaced phone: for each drive its start and end time, time zone, distance, start and end coordinates and addresses, a simplified outline of the route, and your classification and edits; plus your vehicles and settings.

Usage, diagnostics and purchases

  • Product analytics (Amplitude). Events about how the App is used — such as screens opened and features used — to improve it.
  • Crash and error reports (Sentry). Technical information about crashes and errors, such as device model, OS version and the state of the App when a problem happened. Sentry is configured not to collect default personal information.
  • Install attribution (AppsFlyer). Which advertising campaign, if any, led to your install. On iOS the App asks for permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency before your device's advertising identifier is used for this; if you decline, attribution relies on Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork reports. The App does not show ads.
  • Subscriptions (Adapty). Your subscription status and purchase history, to unlock paid features. Payment details are handled by Apple or Google and are never received by us.
  • Maps (Google Maps). When you open a map in the App, map content is loaded from Google for the area shown.
  • Support. If you contact us, the information you choose to send, such as your email address and message.

2. How we use information

  • To record, measure, classify and display your drives, and to value each work drive at the IRS standard mileage rate for its date.
  • To check that tracking is working and show you in the App when it has stopped or when working hours have no drives.
  • To keep your drives in sync across devices when you have an account.
  • To process subscriptions, diagnose problems, and improve the App.
  • To understand which marketing channels bring new users.
  • To respond to you and to meet legal obligations.

The App shows no advertising, and your drive history and locations are not used to target advertising to you. The App has no connection to DoorDash, Uber, Lyft, Instacart, Walmart, Amazon or any other gig platform.

3. Service providers

We use the following providers to run the App. Each processes data on our behalf under its own terms and privacy policy:

4. Your choices

  • Location and motion can be turned off at any time in your phone's settings. Without them the App cannot record drives automatically; you can still add drives by hand.
  • Tracking (iOS) can be allowed or refused in the App Tracking Transparency prompt and changed later in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
  • Account. You can use the App without an account; drives then stay on your phone.

5. Retention and deletion

We never delete your drives on our own initiative — including when a subscription ends. Drive records are kept on your phone, and in your account if you have one, until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Analytics, attribution, crash and subscription data are kept according to each provider's retention settings and only as long as needed for the purposes above. You can delete your account in the App, on the account screen; this deletes your account and every drive, vehicle and setting synced to it from our servers. Drives kept only on your phone are removed from it when you delete the App. You can also ask us to delete your account by emailing support@app.auxility.ca.

6. Security

Data sent between the App and our providers is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children

The App is intended for adults who drive for work and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has provided us information, contact support@app.auxility.ca and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the privacy laws of U.S. states such as California — you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of certain uses. To make a request, email support@app.auxility.ca. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

9. The website

catchmile.com uses privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics to count page views and button clicks, and may use Google Analytics for the same purpose. The Site does not ask for your location and does not collect payment details.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be shown by updating the date above and, where appropriate, in the App.
